The social construction of whiteness

The blog "Stuff White People Like" does a great job of showing the ways that whiteness is socially constructed through behaviors, comsumption patterns, language, place, etc.  This particular blog post that I've linked below talks about "Camping"... making the role of space and place in the construction of this racial category really clear.  I hope you all enjoy it!

  1. Thanks. Loved the article perhaps because I simply hate camping. It is nothing but hard work and discomfort and when the camping is done, you have to go home with a lot of dirty equipment which means a day or more to clean and restore. I have tried it. Never a good night's sleep. Lots of work. Lots of dirt. and then you get to take everything home and do more cleaning and storing. Give me a nice bed in a comfortable room.
